In this tutorial, we provide you easy steps to make you understand the connection of your dedicated server via SSH. This makes you to interface with your server via Command Line Interface (CLI). You can look into it to learn about adding IP address to the firewall and also about the connection with PuTTY and Terminal.
ADDING YOUR IP ADDRESS TO FIREWALL
1 step : Make a note of your IP address.
2 step : Login to WHM.
3 step : You can type the words in the search box. So, type firewall in the search box.
4 step : Click Add IP to firewall option link down in the navigation menu.
5 step : Enter your IP address in the Allow rule field.
6 step : Now click the button Add rule/ Restart.
After a successful completion, you will see a message like “Your IP(s) have been added, and APF is being restarted.”
CONNECTION TO YOUR DEDICATED SERVER VIA TERMINAL
1 step : Open your system and open terminal.
2 step : Now type ssh followed by a space, then type your username followed by @ symbol and your domain or may be IP address.
3 step : Click enter key.
4 step : If a message appears to make sure about your connection, click “yes”. Click enter key.
5 step : Type your password box appears. Enter your password and then click enter key.
That is all, you have connected your dedicated server via SSH.
CONNECTION TO YOUR DEDICATED SERVER VIA WINDOWS OPENSSH
OpenSSH is already included and available with Windows 10. You can use Powershell for access.
1 step : Click and open start menu and type powershell.
2 step : Powershell opens. Select and then run as administrator.
3 step : For remaining, follow the same instructions said for the connection via terminal.
CONNECTING YOUR DEDICATED SERVER VIA PuTTY
1 step : Download PuTTY and also install it.
2 step : Enter the name of your domain in the Host name field. Or you can also add the IP address of our dedicated server.
3 step : Click open button.
4 step : Security alert box appears. Select Accept button.
5 step : Enter your username (cPanel username, or root) when the login as message comes up. Click the Enter key.
6 step : Enter the password of your cPanel or root password if you are intended to connect as the root user. Click the enter key.
